The design principles behind the refurbishment of the Advocates Chambers used the stature of the law as inspiration and considered the need for a finished product that would not date.
In this regard, a palate of dark olive is used to ground the spaces and alludes to the steadfast character of the law. Glazing is introduced to reflect the transparency of the nature of the law while adding a contemporary twist to the original building and the colonial associations of the heavily wooded spaces. The restrooms pick up on the clean modern theme introduced with the glazing elements whilst retaining the dark olive as an accent within the spaces.
Feature lighting accentuates the volume within the stairwells and creates a sense of unity between the floors of the buildings.
